Pharmacodynamics
The drug has a pronounced anti-inflammatory effect, and also normalizes the
tone of smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract: it helps to eliminate spasm without
affecting normal peristalsis, and with reduced tone and motility it has a
tonic, prokinetic effect. In an experiment in vitro, it inhibits the growth of 6 subspecies of
Helicobacter pylori. Iberogast® reduces the intensity of ulceration of the
gastric mucosa, secretion of hydrochloric acid, reduces the concentration of leukotrienes, enhances the
production of mucins, increases the concentration of mucoprotective prostaglandin E2 in
the gastric mucosa.
